WESTERFIELD MODELS, LLC. GOLDEN AGE LINE |

Operating Era: 1905-1970. Southern Pacific, Arizona Eastern, San Diego & Arizona, Western Pacific. The Harriman roads were producing standard designs for stock cars since 1905. The S-40-4 was
the first design to incorporate a straight side sill. Before production ended with the S-40-10 over
6,300 of the design were built for Southern Pacific, Union Pacific and their subsidiaries. Many
cars ran into the 1960's. The spotting features on the S-40-8/9/10 are the channel Bettendorf
center sill and slatted end. The S-40-10 had a vertical feed door.
SP removed the top side fascia in the 1930's and applied AB brakes in the 1940's and '50's. In
1946 the complete roadname was spelled out on the side plackard board but reduced to initials
again in 1952. However, the initials were sometimes stenciled on the large board. The
S-40-8/9/10's ran as late as 1970. Now comes with new One-Piece Roof Frame.
