Operating Era: 1910-1973. Duluth & Iron Range, Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range, Duluth, Missabe & Northern, Soo Line, Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic. Standard Steel Car Co. built 1,700 ore cars under Summers Steel Car Co. patents in 1910. D&IR purchased 750, numbering them Class E-7 series 10500-11249. D&MN also received 750 identical cars, class U7 sereis 16000-16749. SOO Line bought 200 nearly identical cars (differing on n gussets on the side), series 8000- 80199. All cars were delivered before the Safety Appliances Act of 1911. All cars were upgraded in the late 'teens with corner ladders and a secong, deeper step. DSS&A purchase 150 cars from DM&N in 1926. Except for slight improvements in lettering they remained the same unti, scrapping, 75 cars running into 1973. Decal Set Available. SET OF TWO CARS.
