Operating Era: 1916-1964. THIS SERIES NOW COMES WITH OUR ONE-PIECE ROOF FRAME. New York Central, Michigan Central, Canada Southern. NYC designed its first installation of all steel house cars to compete with the Pennsy's X25.
The NYC 1916 design comprised 6,500 cars from three car builders with three known physical
variations, installed on both NYC and Michigan Central. The first delivery, 500 cars in the MC
99500-99999 series had a full end door and somewhat different door hardware from all other
deliveries. The doors were taller, the large tack board was off center, a door pull was on the small
door and the door track was thinner. .
The remaining 6,000 cars had a tight "A" end and differed from one another only in the
style of trucks and the position and number of door stops.
PLEASE SEE OUR AUTOMOBILE CAR SECTION FOR OTHER #7900 SERIES KITS.
