The XG was built in 1895-96 with 34' long interior, 5' wheel base 30 ton capacity trucks, wood bolsters and 4-spoke brake wheels. The XH was built in 1898-1900 to the same dimensions but with 5'6" wheel base 40 ton capacity trucks, steel bolsters and fluted 5-spoke brake wheels. Over 17,000 were built. Each road had its own reporting marks. The cars were renumbered in 1905. Most subsidiaries were reduced to 2" high initials under PENNSYLVANIA or PENNSYLVANIA LINES.
