Operating Era: 1925-1973. Texas & Pacific. Missouri Pacific controlled Texas & Pacific for many years. It is not surprising that car design
was similar. T&P auto cars delivered in 1924 were identical to MP cars delivered the same year
except for the type of side sheathing. Of the 1,000 cars delivered, all were converted to single
door box cars in the 1930`s. About half of these were almost immediately given steel
sheathing. The DS box cars lasted to about 1950 when many were steel sheathed. Steel
sheathed cars lasted into the 1970`s. Our models duplicate the life of the car for as delivered
auto cars and 1930`s DS and steel rebuilds. We call these cars `Murphy` because they had
Murphy radial roofs and reverse corrugation ends; our kits are the first to model such features.
