Operating Era: 1926-1956. THIS SERIES NOW COMES WITH OUR NEW ONE-PIECE ROOF FRAME. Union Pacific. A photo in the 1937 Car Builders's Cyclopedia was the inspiration for this kit. In 1926 LA&SL
rebuilt nine B-50-1 class cars (see kit 1702) for drovers service, placing them in the 3484-3492
series. Before the age of timed freights, solid trains of stock cars required drovers to feed and
water the stock at several stops along the route. Up to 16 men could be housed in these cars
which functioned exactly like Pullman sleepers: seats during the day, beds at night. The cars
were slowly retired between 1948 and 1957. Decals included in the kit cover bother the Roman
style of 1926 and the Gothic style placed in use in 1939, thereby covering the life of the car.
The kit also includes window material and smoke jack.
